How The Brain Works-CLICK HERE
The network of nerve cells and fiber that transmits nerve impulses
between parts of the body, is called The Nervous System.

Nervous System Jeopardy!

The brain is the center of the nervous system in all vertebrate and most invertabrate animals. Some primitive animals such as jellyfish and starfish have a decentralized nervous system without a brain, while sponges lack any nervous system at a
ll. In vertebrates the brain is located in the head, protected by the skull and close to the primary sensory apparatus of vision, hearing, balance, taste, and smell.

The Spinal Cord

The Connection between The Brain and The Spinal Cord

The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the brain. The brain and spinal cord together make up the central nervous system. The spinal cord begins at the Occipital bone and extends down to the space between the first and second lumbar; it does not extend the entire length of the vertebra column.

A NEURON

The cells that that carry information through out your body are called neurons or nerve cell. There are three types of these, they are the the sensory neurons, interneurons, and motor neurons. A sensory neuron picks up power from the internal or external environment and converts each power into a nerve impulse. Then the impulse travels along the sensory neuron until it reaches an interneuron, usually in the brain or spinal cord. An interneuron is a neuron that carries nerve impulses from one neuron to another. Some interneurons pass impulses from sensory neurons to motor neurons. A motor neuron sends an impulse to a muscle or gland, and the muscle or gland reacts in response.

INJURIES
Nervous system injuries comprise a diverse group of disorders that include spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) as well as stroke and brain cancer. SCI and TBI disproportionately affect the young, primarily because of motor vehicle accidents and violence, and stroke more commonly strikes older people, but brain tumors can develop at any age, with incidence peaking in children between the ages of 3 and 12 and in adults between 55 and 65. external image moz-screenshot.png

Ways to keep it healthy
- To keep your nervous system healthy you should wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, skateboard, scooter, or any other type of moving vehicle. Always wear proper safety equipment for sports like baseball, football, lacrosse, and more,
